KUCHING, July 7: An excavator operator was trapped after the heavy machinery he was operating fell into a 30-metre ravine near Uma Kahei in Belaga.
According to a report from Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operations centre today, they received a call regarding the incident at 4.50pm yesterday (July 6) and deployed firefighters from Bomba Belaga.
“The victim, only known as Ponsel, was trapped after the machinery fell into a 30-metre ravine while clearing the land for agricultural purposes.
“The victim could not be extricated yet due to bad weather conditions,” it said.
The report added that the operation was postponed at 10.35pm yesterday and resumed today.
It said firefighters have also informed the police to request the assistance of other heavy machinery to move the excavator. — DayakDaily
