Man tortured by workers over allegedly owed wages

MIRI, July 25: A 35-year-old workshop owner sustained bodily injuries after he was assaulted by his workers who claimed that the former owed them money for car repair work.

In a fit of rage, the two workers had applied electrical shocks on their employer.


They also stripped the victim naked and took several nude photos of him. They threatened to make the photos public if he failed to pay what he allegedly owed them.

In addition, the duo also demanded cash amounting to RM5,000 as the price of the nude photos, according to sources.

The alleged assault occurred on July 22 (Monday night) at 9pm in a house in RPR Permyjaya here.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a police report.

Subsequently, a Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team led by Inspector Fredly Nuing picked up the two suspects aged 30 and 31 respectively at two separate locations in Permyjaya during an operation held on Wednesday night (July 24).

The case is being investigated under Section 385 of the Penal Code for putting a person in fear of injury as to commit extortion.

Both suspects are currently under police custory to assist the police probe into the case.
