Man suffers serious head injury, another slightly injured in three-vehicle pile-up

BINTULU, Nov 16: A 37-year-old man suffered a serious head injury, while another driver was slightly injured in a three-vehicle collision at Jalan Bintulu-Miri yesterday.

According to the state Fire and Rescue operation center, a team of 10 firefighters were deployed to the scene upon receiving report of the incident, which involved a lorry and two four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, at 8.13pm.

“The victim, who was driving a 4WD, fail to overtake from the left lane and rammed into the backside of a lorry, which resulted in his vehicle to lose control and overturned before crashing into another 4WD on the right side of the lane.

“Due to the accident, the victim was thrown out of his vehicle. The other 4WD driver was pinned inside his vehicle, before being helped out by passersby, while the lorry driver escaped unharmed,” the statement said.

Both 4WD drivers were given medical treatment by the paramedics and brought to the hospital for further action.

Firefighters also carried out a flushing operation at the scene followed by an inspection to ensure that the road is safe for road users. — DayakDaily
