KUCHING, Sept 30: A man faced a harrowing experience as he sustained double leg fractures after tumbling into a ditch while on a search for jackfruits on his farm near Jalan Stephen Yong in Pangkalan Baru, shortly past midnight.
In response to an emergency call received at 12.28 am today, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak promptly dispatched a team of firefighters from the Batu Lintang Station.
Upon arrival at the scene, the firefighters were informed by the man’s friend that another victim had already been transported to the hospital by paramedics.
The operation to rescue the fallen victim, whose location was approximately 100 metres from the main road, was initiated at 12.51am.
The rescuers successfully located him at 2.30am, and it was evident that both of his legs were fractured. Immediate medical attention was administered by the Bomba medic team.
Due to limited visibility at night, the operation to extricate the victim from the location was postponed until 9.30am, involving a team of 10 firefighters.
The man was successfully transported from the accident site at about 11am. — DayakDaily
