KUCHING, Nov 16: A 21-year-old man succumbed to stab wound at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) at 2am today, following a knife attack by a known attacker.
Padawan District police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the victim was stabbed by a friend at a house at Jalan Stephen Yong on Friday, at 4.30am.
The incident occurred in front of the house of the victim’s girlfriend, following an altercation between the suspect and the victim, he added.
“The three of them including the victim’s girlfriend were drinking together and believed to be drunk.
“During the incident, after punching the victim, the suspect grabbed a vegetable knife from the kitchen and proceed to stab the victim in the left rib,” Aidil said in a statement today.
He noted that the victim died after receiving treatment at SGH’s Intensive Care Unit.
“Further investigation found that the suspect had a previous relationship with the victim’s girlfriend, and wanted to reconcile. However, the girl’s refusal to reconcile had caused the altercation between the suspect and the victim,” he said.
The suspect was remanded for six days to facilitate investigation under section 302 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
