KUCHING, Nov 4: The Sessions Court here has sentenced a stepfather to an imprisonment of 37 years and 20 strokes of rotan for committing incest rape on his underage daughter.
The stepfather who was slapped with a total of three charges, was sentenced to an imprisonment of 10 years and six strokes of rotan on October 29 for one of the charges.
He was convicted of the other two charges here today after he pleaded guilty to both.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga sentenced him to an imprisonment of 18 years and nine strokes of rotan for the first charge and an imprisonment of nine years and five strokes of rotan for the second charge.
The imprisonment sentences are to run concurrently with effect from today while they are to run consecutively with the sentence handed down on October 29.
For the first charge, he was found guilty of committing incest rape on his 15-year-old stepdaughter in a house at Kampung Biawak, at about 7 pm to 2 am on July 2019.
He was charged under Section 376B of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment between 10 to 30 years and liable to whipping.
For the second charge, he was found guilty to have physically and sexually assaulted his stepdaughter in a house at Kampung Biawak, at about 7 pm to 2 am on July 2019.
He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, punishable under Section 14 which carries an imprisonment of not exceeding 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.
