Man reported missing found dead with multiple injuries in Sarikei

SARIKEI, May 4: A man who was reported missing in a nipah forest in Jalan Sentebu here has been found dead by the search and rescue team at about 1.41pm today.

The 36-year-old victim was found sitting motionless in the forest, about 33.2m away from the main road.

Sarikei Fire and Rescue Station (Bomba) chief Mahmudin Narudin said the man was found with wounds on his left arm and neck.

“His body was then handed over to the police at 2.10pm for further action,” he said.

Mahmudin said the cause of the victim’s injuries was still unknown and his team was waiting for an official report from the police.

The victim was reported missing by his family members after leaving the house alone at 5.30pm last Tuesday.

His disappearance came to light when residents found his wallet and mobile phone before informing his family members.

Following the discovery, the SAR operation was terminated at 2.20pm. —DayakDaily
