KUCHING, Sept 28: A 24-year-old man was killed while three others, including a three-year-old girl, were injured in an accident that occurred near Kampung Sabal Tapang at Jalan Sri Aman–Kuching on Sunday (Sept 27).
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), firefighters from the Serian station were deployed after receiving a call at 9.50pm.
The report noted that the accident involved a Toyota Vios which veered off the road and ended up beside a roadside drain.
None of the victims were trapped in the vehicle, as members of the public had already helped remove them before firefighters arrived. As a result, no rescue operation was required.
Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team assisted in transporting two victims—an adult woman and a female child—to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) also transported an adult male victim to hospital for further treatment.
The deceased, identified as Derick Kiew Chee Fan, was pronounced dead at the scene by MOH personnel.
His body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
