Man killed in self-accident after car crashes into tree at Jalan Luak Esplanade

Ling was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel after his body was extricated from the car wreck.

MIRI, May 10: A local man was killed in a self-accident after his car crashed into a tree early this morning at Jalan Luak Esplanade here.

The victim, identified as Ling Chih Kai, 28, was the sole occupant of the Honda City when it veered off the road and hit the tree.

According to Acting Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 Miri chief Senior Superintendent II Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, a team of seven firemen from Miri Central station were deployed to the scene this morning after responding to an emergency alert on the incident at around 2.29am.

Upon reaching the scene, they found the victim’s body trapped inside the car. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Ling’s body was successfully removed from wreck by the firemen using specialised tool.

The operation ended at 3.15am.
