Meanwhile, the motorcycle rider sustained bodily injuries following the incident and was rushed to Miri Hospital for treatment.

According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the lorry driver escaped unharmed in the 7.40pm crash.

“The collision occurred when the lorry coming from the airport area heading towards Permyjaya suddenly made a turn to enter a junction on its right side upon reaching the scene, but unfortunately, it crashed into the motorcycle,” he said.

Prior to the incident, the motorcycle was coming from the opposite direction.

The body of the pillion rider has been taken to the Miri Hospital morgue.
