Man killed after vehicle collided with lorry loaded with LNG cylinders at Jln Paradom

The lorry laden with liquefied natural gas cylinders ended up in the drain after the accident.

SIBU, April 27: A 64-year-old man was killed when the vehicle he was driving rammed into a lorry loaded with liquefied natural gas cylinders at Jalan Paradom this afternoon.

The victim was identified as Yii Kheng Ang from Jalan Apollo.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the lorry driver was coming from Jalan Lanang heading towards Bintangor when the incident occurred at 12.30pm.

Initial investigation revealed that Yii was coming from Sarikei towards Sibu when his vehicle somehow entered the counterflow lane and smashed into the lorry.

The impact caused the lorry to skid and slided into the drain.

Allison said Yii was found to be dead on the spot while the lorry driver was taken to Sibu hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The case is being investigated under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
