Man jailed, fined for molesting female cousin at her residence

KUCHING, Oct 26: A 25-year-old man was sentenced to five days in jail and fined RM2,000 after he pleaded guilty to molesting his female cousin at her residence last Tuesday.

The accused, Mohd Azizi, admitted to the charge under Section 354 after  it was read to him in court.


According to the charge, the offense occurred at the victim’s residence in Kampung Lintang around 9:20 am on October 24.

If found guilty, the maximum penalty is up to 10 years in prison, a fine, caning, or any combination thereof.

The Magistrate ordered the accused to serve two weeks in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

During the incident, the accused visited the complainant’s house and requested a drink from her.

When she told him to help himself to the beverage from the kitchen, the accused suddenly approached her without wearing pants and attempted to assault her.

The complainant screamed for help, but the accused restrained her by hugging her from the front and covering her mouth.

The complainant managed to free herself and reported the incident to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest on the same day.

The prosecution was handled by Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang, while the accused did not have legal representation. — DayakDaily
