KUCHING, Sept 7: The Magistrates Court here handed down a six-month prison sentence to a local man on one count of threatening to kill his stepbrother in early September.
Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi imposed the sentence on Mohamad Fadli Taib, 28, from Kampung Lemang Pek, after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
He was charged with committing the offence in a rented house in Taman Matang Jaya at around 8.08pm on Septb2.
During the incident, the complainant was at their family’s rented house when his stepbrother, the accused, suddenly arrived and made death threats.
Furthermore, the accused also threatened to harm the complainant and their parents if they did not provide money he wanted.
Fearing for his safety and the safety of their family, the complainant reported the matter to the police for further action.
Investigations revealed that the accused became agitated because the complainant refused to provide money that he was believed would to be used for purchasing drugs.
Additionally, the accused disrupted the household by making threats to harm the complainant, and their mother and father.
Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin requested that the accused be given an appropriate sentence as a lesson. The accused was not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily
