Man jailed 5 months, fined RM2,500 for threatening to kill sister, abusing drugs

KUCHING, April 29: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a laborer to a fine of RM2,500 and five months’ imprisonment on charges of criminal intimidation and abusing drugs.

Mohamad Sahmin Sulong, 39, pleaded guilty to both charges before Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

For the first charge, he was found to have threatened to kill his 37-year-old sister at their house in Kampung Haji Baki, at about 2pm on Jan 27, 2022.

He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

For this charge, Magistrate Zaiton sentenced him to a fine of RM2,500 or in default to four months’ imprisonment.

For the second charge, he was found administering amphetamine and methamphetamine at his house in Kampung Haji Baki, at about 4.57pm on July 30, 2020.

For this act, he was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act.

Magistrate Zaiton sentenced him to five months’ imprisonment for this charge.
