KUCHING, Aug 16: A man was sentenced to a total jail term of two years and six months, a RM4,000 fine and three rotan strokes for touching different boys’ private parts and causing them to watch pornographic videos by offering to let them play a mobile game app.
Alladin Lanim, 41, was facing 18 charges at three different Sessions Courts.
Today, he pleaded guilty to four charges before Sessions Court Judge Maris Agan in Kuching who sentenced him to a jail term of two years and six months, three strokes of the cane and a fine of RM4,000 or in default to twelve months’ imprisonment.
The accused was charged with using the pretext of offering to let a 12-year-old boy to play a popular mobile game app on his phone with the intention to facilitate the commission of an offence under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, at a plantation quarters in Lundu, between April 2020 and April 2021.
For this offence, he was charged under Section 12(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which is punishable under Section 12 of the same Act, and for which he was sentenced to imprisonment of six months and one stroke of the cane upon conviction.
He was also charged with physically sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy by touching his private parts, at a plantation quarters in Lundu, between April 2020 and April 2021.
For this act, he was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which is punishable under Section 14 of the same Act. He was sentenced to imprisonment of two years and two strokes of the cane for this offence.
The accused also faced two charges under Section 15(e) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and punishable under Section 15 of the same Act for causing two victims to watch a pornographic video.
He was sentenced to a fine of RM2,000 or in default to six months’ imprisonment respectively for each charge under Section 15 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
