Man gets jail, whipping for 19 dishonest concealments, inducement charges

KUCHING, May 27: A 31-year-old man from Engkilili was today put behind bars by the Magistrate’s Court here for 14 years and 2 months plus 3 strokes of the rotan for dishonestly concealing and dishonestly inducing property from Chieng Yeu Foo.

Liew Fook Kin was slapped with 19 charges, where 16 of them were under Section 424 of the Penal Code and the remaining 3 under Section 420 of the same Code.

Under Section 424 of the Penal Code, he was charged with dishonestly concealing properties worth a total of RM118,850 belonging to Chieng in May 2017.

He was also charged under Section 420 for deceiving Chieng into believing that he would renovate the roof of his house and that Chieng gave him cash amounting to RM17,650 between May 29, 2015, and Feb 5, 2016.
