KUCHING, March 7: The Magistrate’s Court here has sentenced a jobless man to three months’ imprisonment for threatening to kill his brother-in-law because the latter had spread a video of the accused stealing cable.
Mohd Shamsul Ahat, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Magistrate Zaiton Anuar convicted him as charged and sentenced him to three months’ imprisonment.
The accused was found to have committed criminal intimidation on his sister by threatening to kill his sister’s husband, at their house in Kampung Selipar Putus, at about 8am on Jan 31.
According to the brief facts of the case, the accused acted this way because he was unhappy with his brother-in-law who spread video and photos on Facebook of him stealing cable.
He was also allegedly involved in drug abuse activities and had past criminal records.
Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
