KUCHING, March 7: A father of three was today sent to jail for 20 years and given 12 strokes of the rotan when he pleaded guilty to raping his underage niece,
Sessions Court Judge Marutin Pagan accepted the plea by the accused, 36, from Lundu and ordered the jail term to start from the date of arrest.
The accused was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for raping his 13-year-old niece at his house in Lundu on Feb 6 this year at about 3.30pm.
Section 376(3) of the Penal Code provides for an imprisonment term of not less than eight years and not exceeding 30 years and whipping of not less than 10 strokes upon conviction.
According to the brief facts of the case, it was the victim’s mother who lodged the police report after she was told by her daughter what had happened during her stay at her uncle’s house.
DPP Nor Azhari Yusof prosecuted, while the accused not represented. — DayakDaily
