KUCHING, Oct 8: The Sessions Court here has sentenced an unemployed man to 12 months in jail and two strokes of the cane after he was charged with hurting his father with a knife.
Muhammad Shafiq Norisam, 24, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same Code.
The accused was found guilty of hurting his father, Norisam Talip, 50 by using a knife at their house located at Bandar Baru Semariang, at about 9.30pm on Oct 3, 2021.
According to the brief facts of the case, the victim and his wife were urging the accused, who was the eldest of their children, to look for a job to earn a living.
Suddenly, the accused got angry and went to the kitchen to get a knife. During the struggle between the victim and the accused, the knife that the accused was holding hurt the victim’s hand and leg.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Aiman Mutalib Mohamad Shariff prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
