Man fined RM3,000 for threatening to kill own mother after she refused to give him money

KUCHING, Aug 23: The Magistrate’s Court here has fined an unemployed man RM3,000 after he was charged with threatening to kill his mother because she did not want to give him money.

Abdul Rashid Daud @ Dawok, 35, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 506 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.


Section 506 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term of up to two years, or a fine or both, upon conviction.

He committed criminal intimidation by pointing a short folding knife forwards to the neck of his 70-year-old mother at their house in Kampung Tupong Batu, Petra Jaya, at about 7am on Aug 19.

According to the brief facts of the case, Abdul Rashid pointed the knife towards his mother because his mother had refused to give him the money that he asked for.

It was also found that the accused was also involved in a drug-related case.

Prosecuting Officer ASP Rogayah Rosli prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
