KUCHING, Oct 7: A 37-year-old man was killed after he was trapped in a stone grinding machine at a construction site here this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving an emergency call at 9.40am and dispatched a team from the Kota Sentosa station.
Upon arrival, rescuers found that the victim, identified as Syahmizi Abu Bakar, was trapped inside the machine. Firefighters attempted to loosen several nuts on the fan section of the machine to free the victim but failed.
They then worked together with site workers to push the machine’s fan, and the victim was finally extricated at 11.33am.
Medical officers from the Health Ministry later confirmed that the victim had died at the scene and the body was handed over to the police for further investigation. — DayakDaily
