Man dies after allegedly falling from ship’s ladder in KPA

KUCHING, Jan 25: A 53-year-old man from Kampung Bako near here died after allegedly falling from a ship’s ladder in Kuching Port Authority (KPA) today.

According to the Tabuan Jaya fire station in a statement today, they received a call from Bintawa police station deputy chief Sgt Siti Mariam at 11.39 am, informing about the incident and eight firefighters led by PBK Juperi Kassim were deployed to the scene.

“After arriving at the location, firefighters found that the man identified as Hamdan Sidi, had died at the scene after allegedly falling from a ship’s ladder when climbing it.

“Firefighters then proceed to remove the deceased’s body from the scene by using a stretcher with the assistance from an onboard crane,” it said.

The statement noted the body was later handed over to the police for further action and the operation ended at 12.27 pm. — DayakDaily
