Man detained over missing RM33,000 at grocery store

MIRI, Aug 23: A man has been placed under police custody yesterday to assist in the investigation of a grocery store’s missing cash amounting to RM33,000.

The missing cash was detected by the shop’s accountant during a check conducted on its financial statement and cash flow on Aug 1.

According to sources, the incident occurred for the past eight months and the missing cash was only noticed on Aug 16. The accountant immediately told the shop manager upon the findings. A police report was immediately lodged.


Miri Commercial Crime Investigation department (CCID) have arrested the suspect, who is also an employee of the grocery store.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. — DayakDaily
