Man could face gallows after being caught with drugs worth RM8,190 in Ops Cegah Jenayah

MIRI, April 11: The police here have arrested a local man during Ops Cegah Jenayah on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri (April 9) after seizing 56.59 grammes of methamphetamine and 100 pills of Erimin 5, valued at RM8,190.

Miri Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrest in a statement today.

He stated that the suspect was apprehended after the police discovered the illegal substances inside his car during operations conducted on Jalan Desa Pujut Utama.


“During inspections, the team discovered and confiscated suspected methamphetamine -type drugs amounting to 56.59 grammes, along with 100 pills of Erimin 5,” he mentioned in the statement.

The police also confiscated the suspect’s car.

The case is currently under investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

If found guilty, the man could face severe penalties, including the possibility of a death sentence or receiving 12 strokes of the whip. — DayakDaily
