Man caught for installing hidden spy cam in woman’s toilet of office fined RM3,500 in court

KUCHING, June 8: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a man to a fine of RM3,500 for possessing voyeuristic photos of his colleague.

Ling, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 3 years’ imprisonment, a fine or both upon conviction.


Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi convicted him as charged and sentenced him to a fine of RM3,500 or in default to 3 months’ imprisonment.

He was found possessing obscene photos of his 44-year-old female colleague, at his house in Taman BDC, at about 11pm on Sept 6, 2019.

According to the brief facts of the case, on Sept 6, 2019, the victim found a small camera hidden in the woman’s toilet of their offices located at the seventh floor of a building and reported it to her manager for further action.

Upon police investigation, the police discovered that the hidden camera was installed by a man from the accounting department of the company to record female colleagues using the said toilet.

Police also found the accused had kept the photos of the victim while she was using the toilet.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while the accused was represented by Counsel Christopher Bada. — DayakDaily
