Man arrested in Kg Grogo for suspected drug possession

KUCHING, June 25: A 33-year-old self-employed man from Bau was arrested after police found ‘syabu’ weighing a total of 1.28 grammes during a raid in Kampung Grogo today.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement revealed the raid was conducted by Bau district headquarters crime investigation officers. They found a transparent plastic packet, containing a crystalised substance, believe to be ‘syabu’ (0.74 gramme), inside the right pocket of a pair of blue jeans.

“Apart from that, another transparent plastic packet, also containing a crystalised substance, and believed to be ‘syabu’ (0.54 gramme), was found inside a black coloured sling bag, which was hung on the wardrobe inside the bedroom. The estimated total weight (of both substances) is 1.28 gramme and valued to be worth RM200.”

Poge also noted that based on the initial urine test conducted, the suspect was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The suspect was arrested under Section 12(2) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“Background checking also shows the suspect has a previous record, and a remand order will be applied from the magistrate tomorrow (June 26),” he added. — DayakDaily
