MIRI, July 25: A man was arrested by police here on Tuesday night for running amok with a sharp object resembling a ‘samurai’ sword.
The arrest was made around 7pm in a Quadruplex flat Permyjaya here after terrified residents nearby reported seeing the man wandering around wielding the weapon.
Six policemen who were on patrol for ‘Ops Harapan’ at a nearby area, immediately dashed to the location upon receiving the alert.
It took them less than 15 minutes to subdue the suspect. Two sharp objects resembling ‘samurai’ swords measuring about three feet long each were seized.
No untoward incident took place during the arrest. The 22-year-old suspect is currently under police custody.
It was not immediately apparent what had caused the suspect to behave in such a manner. — DayakDaily
