SARATOK, June 28: A 47-year-old local man has been arrested for allegedly injuring his wife using a piece of tile during a domestic dispute in Kampung Melango Lama here.
Saratok district police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the incident occurred on June 24, 2026, when the couple got into an argument at their home, which escalated into violence.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the 40-year-old victim with a tile, causing a head injury that resulted in bleeding. The victim later lodged a police report and received treatment at Saratok Hospital.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or means.
Mathew further said the suspect, a labourer from Pusa, was arrested by officers from the Saratok Criminal Investigation Division on June 25.
Urine screening on the suspect returned positive for Amphetamines and Methamphetamine, and records also showed a prior offence under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Investigations found that the suspect admitted to the offence, saying it stemmed from a domestic dispute and suspicion of infidelity. He also admitted to being under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
Police also seized four pieces of broken tile as evidence.
The case has been classified as solved following the arrest of the suspect. — DayakDaily
