KUCHING, Nov 25: The Sessions Court here discharged a 59-year-old grandfather of a charge of sexually assaulting his 15-year-old granddaughter.
Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga today discharged not amounting to acquittal the man because the victim who is also the complainant of this case could not be found.
The accused was charged with physically and sexually assaulting his granddaughter by sexually touching her breast, body and her private parts at his house in Petra Jaya, at about 12pm on May 26, 2020.
He was charged under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurfadzlin Mahmad Zulhasnan prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsels Steven Beti and Gerald Donald. — DayakDaily
