Mall explosion: 22 victims still warded in hospitals

KUCHING, Dec 8: Twenty-two victims of the tragic explosion at CityOne Megamall on Dec 4 are still warded at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and at Borneo Medical Centre (BMC).

State Health director Dr Jamilah Hashim said in a statement today that 20 of the victims were at SGH and two at BMC.

Of the 20 at SGH, two are in the Intensive Care Unit, one in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit, one in the Neurosurgery Ward, seven in the Burn Ward, four in the Urology Ward, four in the Male Orthopaedic Ward and one in the Female Orthopaedic Ward.


The two victims at BMC are in the Burn Ward.

“The condition of all the victims are stable,” said Dr Jamilah.

She said the victims were being treated for burns, including severe ones, breathing disorders, fractures, injuries to tissues and muscles, and shortness of breath as a result of the tragedy.

“We hope the victims can make a fast recovery so that they can go home to their loved ones,” she said.

The explosion at the shopping malls killed three and injured 41 people. — DayakDaily
