Malaysia’s tourism shows resilience: 2.84 mln international visitors in March, up 2.4 pct

KUCHING, April 1: Malaysia recorded 2,835,724 international visitor arrivals from March 1 to 26, marking a 2.4 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting the sector’s resilience amid global uncertainties.

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said the tourism industry remains robust, with arrivals continuing to grow despite worldwide challenges.

“For the period of March 1 to 26, Malaysia welcomed 2,835,724 international visitors, up 2.4 per cent from 2,769,305 in the same period of 2025,” he shared in a Facebook post on Tuesday (March 31).

ASEAN countries remain the largest source of visitors, contributing 2,093,096 arrivals, a 0.6 per cent increase from March 2025. East Asia recorded 407,171 arrivals, growing 12.8 per cent, with China leading at 22.7 per cent.

South Asia contributed 123,270 visitors, slightly down 0.4 per cent, while the Middle East saw a sharp decline of 40.3 per cent with 4,398 arrivals, affected by geopolitical tensions.

Central Asia posted 6,569 arrivals (+21 per cent), and Africa recorded 7,165 visitors (-7.5 per cent).

Europe contributed 124,824 arrivals (+5.2 per cent), the Americas 36,099 visitors (-0.4 per cent), and Oceania 33,127 arrivals (+20.2 per cent).
