KUCHING, Nov 23: Bulan Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family Month) aims not only to celebrate family institutions, but also to encourage all parties to participate in empowering family institutions’ socio-economic wellbeing in the country, says Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.

Wee stated this yesterday before officiating at the ‘Bulan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) 2022 Peringkat Lembaga Penduduk dan Pembangunan Keluarga Negara (LPPKN) Negeri Sarawak’ ceremony at the MBKS complex lobby here.

“The family is the basic unit in providing the foundation for the development of human capital to drive the development of a country.

“Therefore, programmes and services such as those implemented this morning are seen as one of the steps to empower family institutions to produce dignified, high quality, and noble human capital,” he noted.

He went on to say that the formation and strengthening of the family institution necessitates each family member’s responsibility to play a role together and fairly not only in the family aspect but also in the economy, career, and life in order to increase life’s stability and well-being.

“This Malaysian Family Month is not only intended to celebrate family institutions but it also aims to encourage the involvement of all parties to empower family institutions in the country’s socio-economics (sic).

“It is in line with the implementation of the National Family Policy which aims to develop a prosperous, healthy, and strong family as well as resilience to ensure social stability for the wellbeing of the country,” he added.

“The ‘Malaysian Family’ concept initiated by YAB the Prime Minister is a continuation of that effort by focusing on efforts to unite Malaysians in one big family to face the challenges of the twin crises of the economy and Covid-19.

“By relying on the three main pillars of inclusion, togetherness and gratitude in line with the values of KASIH, it is hoped that the BKM Celebration will continue to be a platform to fuel wholeness and inclusion in the Malaysian Family, thereby maintaining prosperity and unity among us as one big family,” he remarked. — DayakDaily
