KUCHING, Mar 21: Malaysia will be ordering a total of 10 million face masks from China, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

According to Fadillah, this was decided during the National Security Council (MKN) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, yesterday.

He added that any additional face masks would be channeled to the local market through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), with the cooperation of Pharmaniaga.

“Priority will be given to the front liners such as the medical, police, immigration and army personnel during their duty,” he said during a press conference today.

Fadillah noted that there was an increase in the number of medical personnel getting infected with the virus, which could lead to the lack of available medical staff to treat the outbreak.

He also call for everyone that have made a close contact with Covid-19 positive individuals to inform the medical staff when going for treatment.

“It is reminded that failure to declare, the police are liable to take action under the law,” he added. —DayakDaily.
