Malaysia, Sweden eye stronger healthcare cooperation through knowledge-sharing

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 22: Malaysia and Sweden are exploring stronger cooperation in the healthcare sector through the sharing of expertise, experience and practices to support efforts to strengthen the healthcare system and service delivery.

Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib said the potential collaboration could cover various areas, including expertise in medical equipment and technology as well as healthcare facilities.

She said this in a statement shared on her social media today following a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Embassy of Sweden to Malaysia, led by Deputy Head of Mission Mr Sebastian Magnusson.

According to Hanifah, the meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on various areas related to the healthcare sector.

“The discussion also touched on the potential for collaboration that can be explored in the field of health, particularly through the sharing of expertise, experience, and practices that can support efforts to strengthen the system and deliver health services.

“Both parties also shared views on the potential for strategic cooperation that can be built together, taking into account the current needs of the health sector and the potential use of technology and expertise to enhance the effectiveness of service delivery to the community,” she said.

Hanifah emphasised that every proposal and plan discussed must be translated through a practical, effective and sustainable approach.

She said this was important to ensure that every form of cooperation implemented could provide real benefits and contribute to improving the well-being of the people.
