Malaysia sees 10 new Covid-19 cases today

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28: Malaysia registered 10 new positive cases of Covid-19 today.

The information was revealed by Health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a social media posting.


With the additional 10 cases, he added the number of cumulative Covid-19 cases in Malaysia has risen to 9,306 cases.

“Out of the 10 new cases, eight cases were imported. It involved one citizen and seven foreigners.

“For the imported cases, there were five cases in Kuala Lumpur and two cases in Selangor involving nationals returning from India.

“There is also one imported case in Sarawak from The Philippines,” he said in his Facebook posting today.

As for the two cases of local transmission, Dr Noor Hisham said one case involved a citizen and another case involved a foreigner.

He explained that the case which involved a  citizen was detected from a swab test in Kedah while the foreigner was detected from the Covid-19 swab test involving detention of illegal immigrants at the Bukit Jalil Immigration detention centre.

He said there were 36 patients who recovered and were discharged from the hospitals.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 151 active cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia.

Out of the 151 active cases, he said there were eight patients who were being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of health facilities while six patients were on ventilators.

He added that there were no new deaths reported while the death toll remained at 125 persons. —DayakDaily
