Malaysia records 9 new Covid-19 cases today, new Maju cluster in KL

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21: Malaysia recorded nine new positive cases of Covid-19 today.

The information was revealed by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a press statement.


With the additional nine new cases, the number of cumulative positive Covid-19 cases in Malaysia has risen to 9,249 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said out of the nine new cases, four were imported while the remaining five were from local transmissions.

“For local transmission cases, four involved citizens with three reported in Kedah from the Tawar cluster and one in Kuala Lumpur.

“There is one local transmission case which involved a non-citizen in Sarawak.

“As for the imported cases, they are from a Filipino, an Austrian, an Indian and an Indonesian arriving in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,” he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said there was a new cluster of Covid-19 formed in Kuala Lumpur known as the Maju cluster.

He added there were 13 patients who recovered and were discharged from the hospitals.

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 179 active cases of Covid-19 throughout Malaysia and out of that, seven patients were being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while four patients were on ventilators.

He said there were no new deaths reported. —DayakDaily
