Malaysia records 1,133 Covid-19 cases, five fatalities

KUCHING, March 30: Malaysia recorded 1,133 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths today, disclosed Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Dr Noor Hisham in a statement revealed Selangor reported the highest number of new daily cases at 401 followed by Penang (194) and Sarawak (153).

He added Johor reported 96 new cases followed by Kuala Lumpur (53), Perak (44), Kelantan (44), Kedah (41), Sabah (41), Negri Sembilan (39), Pahang (16), Malacca (6), Terengganu (2), Labuan (1), Putrajaya (1) and Perlis (1).

This pushed the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 344,018.

Apart from that, Dr Noor Hisham said there were 1,148 Covid-19 patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Meanwhile, a total of 14,199 Covid-19 patients are being treated in various health facilities, with 161 in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and 76 patients on ventilators.

Dr Noor Hisham also said there were nine new Covid-19 clusters identified and 369 clusters which are still active.

From this, 50 existing clusters reported new cases today. — DayakDaily
