KUCHING, Mar 11: Malaysia is exploring ways to advance its smart mobility initiatives and modernise road infrastructure following its first participation at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026, one of the world’s leading transport technology exhibitions.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi recently held high-level discussions with major European Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) players, including ERTICO – ITS Europe, ITS Germany and Connekt / ITS Netherlands. The talks focused on digital traffic management, integration of mobility data, and artificial intelligence in transport systems.
According to his Facebook post, he said the engagement provided Malaysia an opportunity to study best practices and innovative solutions from advanced economies.
“This allows us to develop safer, more efficient, and sustainable transport networks at home,” he said.
The minister noted that Malaysia’s participation also reflects international recognition of the country’s efforts under the ITS Malaysia 2025–2030 Masterplan, which aims to create a data-driven and technology-based transport ecosystem.
Building on these discussions, Nanta invited international ITS experts to Malaysia to participate in upcoming knowledge-sharing platforms, including the MY ASEAN Roads and Traffic Expo and Conference (MYARTTE) 2026 and the Malaysia Road Conference 2026.
He said collaborations like these will accelerate Malaysia’s development of a modern, intelligent, and resilient transport system, benefiting the public and enhancing road safety. — DayakDaily
