KUCHING, March 5: Malaysia has extended a warm welcome to WINDROSE Finest Travel GmbH, a Berlin-based luxury travel agency, inviting the company to explore Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, and Melaka to design tailor-made packages for high-end German tourists.
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, made the proposal during a meeting with WINDROSE in conjunction with his visit to Germany for the ITB Berlin tourism exhibition as part of Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen luxury tourism offerings for European visitors.
He noted that the agency’s expertise in crafting private travel experiences aligns perfectly with Malaysia’s diverse portfolio, which includes island resorts, tropical rainforests, cultural heritage sites, and rural tourism products.
“WINDROSE’s interest in Malaysia presents an excellent opportunity to showcase our diverse destinations and develop bespoke travel experiences that appeal to luxury travellers from Germany,” he said in a statement shared on his social media today.
Tiong added that such collaborations could help elevate Malaysia’s cultural assets as high-value tourism products and foster cross-cultural understanding through meaningful travel experiences.
During discussions, WINDROSE shared insights into current European tourism trends, noting a shift toward experience-based luxury travel.
The agency highlighted preferences for private villa accommodations, wildlife and nature exploration, and immersive cultural experiences delivered with strong storytelling.
Tiong affirmed that these trends resonate with Malaysia’s strengths, including its tropical rainforests, scenic islands, and cultural diversity.
“Germany, with a population exceeding 80 million, contributed around 188,928 visitors to Malaysia in 2025. This represents significant potential to expand cooperation in the luxury tourism segment, particularly through familiarisation trips and joint promotional efforts in the European market,” he said.
Tiong concluded by expressing optimism that this partnership would further enhance Malaysia’s presence as a premier destination for luxury European travellers and support the nation’s broader tourism development goals. — DayakDaily
