KUCHING, June 15: The water supply disruption that affected 35,000 residents in Sarikei Division was due to leakages in the main pipe of the Ai Bayong Treatment Plant caused by construction work on the Pan Borneo highway yesterday (June 14).
According to the statement, the areas affected were along Jalan Bayong, the main road from Simpang Jakar to Sebangkoi, along the road from Simpang Selalang to Rh. Moses, the whole of Sare, along Jalan Meruton Merudu from Jalan Hock Ming until Simpang Baji, the whole of Tanjung Manis, Belawai, Jerijeh, Serdeng, Semalau, and Bekakong.
Also affected by the disruption was the whole of Pakan, KJD Meradong, Skim B, along with Jalan Bulat from Sg Rusa to Sg John, Kim San Sg Rusa, Kesa Baron, Jalan On Dian, Jalan Sg Garan, Jalan Friendship, Jalan Cola and the junction to Pakan.
JBALB) urged the contractor of the Pan Borneo Highway to repair the affected pipe immediately to avoid further disruption in the water supply.
“JBALB and the contractor of the Pan Borneo Highway will supply water by water tanker to these affected areas, especially the schools, hospitals and clinic until the supply of water is restored and back to normal.”
The department will update the public on the development and management of the water disruption to customers through its official Facebook page and Rakan JBALB Sarikei Division Facebook page.
