KUCHING, Sept 21: Senator Dato Ahmad Ibrahim wants the Madani Medical Scheme to be expanded to all districts throughout the nation, while also broadening its range of services to include various healthcare facilities.
Debating the Mid-Term Review of 12th Malaysia Plan, Ahmad raised this as he noted that presently, only 21 districts in the entire country are covered by the scheme, with Sarawak having just one district, namely Kuching.
“I hope the Madani Medical Scheme’s scope to not only encompass conventional healthcare facilities but also extend to encompass a broader spectrum of healthcare services.
“In fact, I’m grateful to the government for the Madani Medical Scheme that would benefit the less privileged, particularly the B40 lower income group to have access to private healthcare services,” he said in Parliament today.
Given the benefit of this scheme, Ahmad called for collective responsibility to support and optimise this initiative.
With that, Ahmad hopes that the Madani Medical Scheme can be further developed, particularly in the regions of Sarawak and Sabah to facilitate better healthcare access for the populace in these areas. — DayakDaily
