KUCHING, Feb 24: The Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) meeting, originally scheduled for Feb 28, has been rescheduled to Mar 2, with several unresolved matters, including Article 112D and Sarawak’s special grant, set to be discussed at the technical committee level, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said.

He told reporters after addressing heads of federal departments and agencies at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar today that the technical-level meeting will take place first to review and deliberate on issues that have yet to be finalised.

“The technical committee will continue discussions on outstanding matters, including Article 112D and the special grant for Sarawak. This process ensures that decisions brought to the main committee are thorough, fact-based, and in line with current laws and policies,” he said.

He emphasised that the staged approach allows for clarity and transparency in decision-making, giving federal officers in Sarawak a clear understanding of developments while safeguarding the State’s rights under MA63.

Mustapha added that while some matters have been resolved at the technical level, others require careful study and negotiation.

“We want to ensure that all issues are properly examined so that the outcomes can be implemented effectively and fairly,” he said.

He also said the committee’s work is essential for maintaining strong coordination between federal agencies and the State government.

By finalising outstanding matters systematically, the committee aims to strengthen the implementation of development projects and ensure Sarawak’s rights under MA63 are fully respected.

“The discussions reflect our commitment to structured and transparent dialogue. It is important that all parties, from federal staff to state representatives, understand both the legal framework and practical steps needed to finalise these matters,” he added. — DayakDaily
