Lundu loses green status, only 10 districts remain green

KUCHING, Jan 28: Lundu today loses its green zone status after a Covid-19 local transmission has been confirmed positive in the district.

The Lundu case was detected after the individual went for screening in a private hospital in Kuching. The individual had close contact with a Covid-19 positive case linked to Pasai Cluster.


This means out of the 40 districts in Sarawak, only 10 districts still maintain their Covid-19 free status while 30 have detected with Covid-19 cases.

As of today, out of the 30 districts, seven of them including Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Beluru, Miri, Sibu and Kuching still classified as Covid-19 red zone districts .

These seven districts accounted for a total of 1,696 cases for the past 14 days.

As of Jan 28, 2021, seven districts in Sarawak are still classified as Covid-19 red zones.

In these districts, Sibu still tops all the districts in terms of the number of confirmed Covid-19 positive cases as the Pasai Cluster continues to wreck havoc. Just today, there are 43 cases detected which are related to the Cluster.

Meanwhile, Sarikei, Subis, Betong and Song are characterised as Covid-19 orange zones, with a total of 109 cases reported for the last 14 days.

The districts that are being termed as Covid-19 yellow zones are Sebauh, Lawas, Telang Usan, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Bau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga, Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simunjan, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Selangau, Samarahan, Sri Aman, apart the new addition of Lundu.

Covid-19 cases in these districts are under control with many of these districts losing their green zone status due to one to two cases, such as Telang Usan and Lundu, which have both reported one case as of yesterday and today respectively.

Presently, the 10 districts which are still Covid-19 free (or under green zone) are Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Daro, Matu, Pusa, Saratok, Kabong and Marudi. — DayakDaily
