“The word Kuching literally means cat in Bahasa Malaysia, making our city the perfect place for an initiative inspired by lucky cats.

“The name Lucky Kuching is a fitting reflection of this symbol, as lucky cats are recognised around the world as a sign of good fortune and positivity. We hope these statues will bring good fortune, harmony and optimism to the people of Kuching,” he said in a post shared on his social media on Monday (Nov 10).

Dr Sim shared that the joyful Lucky Kuching cat statues will soon grace the streets of Kuching as charming new landmarks, celebrating our city’s spirit of luck.

Each statue is designed to delight visitors and residents, offering memorable photo moments while encouraging exploration along the Lucky Kuching Trail, which highlights the city’s streets, culture, and heritage.
