KUCHING, Nov 7: To ensure smooth and accurate implementation of the enhanced Budi Madani RON 95 (BUDI95) scheme, the Sarawak Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP Sarawak) will work closely with all e-hailing operators to obtain verified monthly journey records for their respective drivers.
This coordinated approach will enable LPKP Sarawak to compile accurate and comprehensive travel data every month, enabling the Federal Government to allocate the appropriate additional fuel subsidy quotas under BUDI95 based on the actual needs of drivers.
LPKP Sarawak chairman Michael Kong said the agency’s efforts reflect its commitment to supporting the transport industry, addressing on-ground realities, and ensuring that Sarawak’s drivers receive the assistance they deserve under a fair and transparent subsidy framework.
“Moving forward, LPKP Sarawak will continue to work proactively with all relevant ministries and agencies to monitor, refine, and strengthen the implementation of the BUDI95 scheme for both e-hailing and taxi drivers,” he said in a statement today.
Under the newly enhanced scheme approved by the Federal government, e-hailing drivers will receive additional fuel quotas based on their monthly travel distance:
- Less than 2,000 km: No additional quota
- 2,000 to 5,000 km: Additional 300 litres
- More than 5,000 km: Additional 500 litres
“This new structure ensures that the BUDI95 subsidy is distributed based on each driver’s actual needs and working mileage. It also ensures that the targeted subsidy initiative is implemented in a fair and equitable manner, while safeguarding the livelihood of e-hailing drivers and airport taxi operators,” Kong said.
He further emphasised that the decision to reduce the minimum mileage threshold from 3,000 km to 2,000 km reflects the Federal Government’s recognition of the distance covered by e-hailing drivers even when they are not ferrying passengers.
“This adjustment ensures that the Budi95 subsidy remains sufficient to support the operational needs of most (if not all) active e-hailing drivers,” he added. – DayakDaily
