SIBU, April 16: Thousands of poor households in Dudong constituency have benefitted from food aid donated by their assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King.

Tiong had, since the end of March, personally donated about 3,800 packages of foods with basic necessities to low-income families in the area.

The recipients were longhouse residents and the needy which was to help them get through this difficult period caused by Covid-19.

They were from Dudong, Sentosa, Sibu Jaya, Salim, Stabau, Durin, Sg Menyan, Naman, Sg Menyan, Sg Rongan, Sg Telian and Pak, in Kiew Nan, Grand Height, and other Dudong districts.

Tiong who is also the chairman of PSB Dudong branch said his contribution was to help especially those that live in rural areas who are facing a very challenging time during this period.

“The disruption has brought financial difficulties to many. Some of them have lost their jobs or are unable to go to work due to the lockdown and have no income. They need help in order to make ends meet,” he said.

Tiong urged the people to put aside their differences and stand as one nation to help each other as it is a crisis that is affecting everyone.

“We are all in this together, regardless of parties, races, religions, or even nationalities. We should help one another, because we are facing and fighting a common invisible enemy that is attacking all mankind,” he said.

“Each of us should do our part as fellow citizens to help each other and help our country overcome the crisis.” —DayakDaily
