Longhouse residents at centre of Sg Poh Cluster, 44 cases confirmed so far

KUCHING, Sept 26: Residents of a longhouse at Sungai Poh, Nanga Medamit in Limbang found themselves at the centre of a new community cluster in Sarawak today dubbed the Sungai Poh Cluster after 44 Covid-19 cases were confirmed.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of the total positive cases recorded so far, 30 were reported today.


“A total of 47 individuals have been screened whereby 44 people tested positive for Covid-19 including the index case while three were negative,” the committee said.

All positive cases from the cluster were referred and admitted to Limbang Hospital as well as Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs) in the district for isolation and further treatment.

At the same time, SDMC announced the end of eight clusters, namely the Kampung Quop Cluster, Kampung Git Cluster, Kampung Bintawa Hilir Cluster, Kampung Haji Baki Cluster, Kampung Bintawa Ulu Cluster and Kampung Pulo Ulu Cluster in Kuching; Jalan Kemena Industries Estate 38 Cluster in Bintulu; and Jalan Lembah Hijau Cluster in Miri.

At present, there are 120 active clusters in the State with six of them recording an increase of 105 new cases today.

These six clusters are the Kampung Bungey 2 Cluster with 40 cases, the new Sungai Poh Cluster (30), Long Urun Cluster (26), Pinang Jawa Cluster (5), Pusat Kemuyang Timur Cluster (3) and Haidah Cluster (1). — DayakDaily
