Longhouse clusters detected in Beluru, Sebau with 28 Covid-19 positive cases

KUCHING, Aug 13: Two community clusters dubbed the Sungai Menok Cluster and the Long Maktub Cluster were detected in Beluru and Sebauh, respectively, with 28 Covid-19 positive cases so far today.

According to the reports by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, both clusters emerged in longhouses currently under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).


The one in Beluru is located at Sungai Menok, Lapor, Tinjar while the other in Sebauh is in Long Maktub, Tubau.

In the Sungai Menok Cluster, a total of 72 individuals were screened with 20 testing positive for the virus, 40 tested negative while another 12 samples are awaiting laboratory test results.

As for the Long Maktub Cluster in Sebauh, 34 underwent swab tests with eight testing positive for the virus, 26 testing negative while five are still awaiting laboratory test results.

SDMC assured that all patients were admitted to the Miri and Bintulu hospitals and Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centres (PKRCs).

Meanwhile, Sarawak also recorded four other new clusters in Kuching alone.

They were the Skim Penempatan Stutong Baru Cluster, Taman Indah Landeh Cluster, Kampung Sunagi Laruh Cluster and Jalan Sungai Maong Cluster with six, eight, 12 and 20 positive cases respectively.
