Lok Thian denies Covid-19 positive case among staff


KUCHING, July 14: Lok Thian Group of Companies debunks rumours that one of its staff has been tested positive for Covid-19.

In a press statement today, the group stressed that there was no such case.

“However, we wish to inform that it is the spouse of one of our employees from Joyous Shanghai Restaurant who has been tested positive for Covid-19 and upon receiving such news, the employee has been sent for testing and as of today, we are grateful to announce that our employee has undergone twice for Covid-19, both of which came back negative.


“We further wish to inform that our employee is currently undergoing self-quarantine.

“Moreover, as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of our customers, we have also sent other Joyous Shanghai employees for swab testing, all of which have come back negative as of date.

The statement pointed out that since the reopening of its businesses, the group has strictly complied with the government’s guidelines on social distancing during dine-in, wearing of face mask and regular sanitisation of our premises.

The group affirmed that the health and well-being of its employees and customers remains its utmost priority and it will continue to be vigilant in its efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Therefore, we would appreciate if members of the public would stop and/or refrain from spreading any fake news, failing which, we reserve the right to take legal defamation action.”—DayakDaily
