KUCHING, Feb 20: State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has described the lockdown in Kampung Sungai Maong and Taman Univista as a well organised operation.

Uggah in a press statement today, said this is because both the Kuching and Samarahan residents have already experienced the situation, and at the same time they are also very cooperative.

ā€œOne of our concerns is the food aid distribution. Apparently, this too has been well organised. The SDMC must thank the two Residents of the two areas, their officers, all those enforcement personnel and the Welfare Department for the jobs well done,” he said.

Uggah said this after his visit to both operation centres at Kampung Sungai Maong here and Taman Univista in Kota Samarahan today.

During the visit, Uggah was accompanied by Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Some 375 people from 65 houses and 60 apartment units are affected by the lockdown being implemented in Taman Univista from Feb 17 until March 2, 2021.

In Kampung Sungai Maong, 829 people from 182 families are affected by the lockdown which is also being enforced from Feb 17 until March 2, 2021. ā€” DayakDaily
